The Nepal Seismological Association (NSA) is pleased to announce that our General Secretary, Dr. Shiba Subedi, along with Executive Members Ms. Aastha Poudel and Ms. Priyanka Dhami, have successfully secured the Seismological Society of America (SSA) Community Grant 2026.
Through this prestigious grant, the team will organize a three-day international training workshop titled “Enhancing Advanced Research, Technical Skills, and Human Capacity in Seismology (EARTH-Quake 2026)”, to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from 15–17 July 2026. The program is being implemented in collaboration with the Nepal Seismological Association (NSA).
The workshop aims to strengthen regional capacity in seismology by providing hands-on training in passive seismic methods, Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ratio (HVSR) analysis, and earthquake location techniques. Graduate students, early-career researchers, and professionals from Nepal and neighboring countries will have the opportunity to learn from invited experts through lectures, tutorials, and interactive discussions.
The SSA Community Grant recognizes initiatives that promote scientific collaboration, education, and community engagement in seismology. This achievement reflects the growing contributions of NSA members to advancing earthquake science and hazard assessment in the region.
The NSA Executive Committee extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Subedi, Ms. Poudel, and Ms. Dhami on this remarkable achievement and wishes them great success in organizing EARTH-Quake 2026.
